Madelyn at 6 months

Madelyn had her six month well check today.  It was quick and easy :)  She's 16.9 lbs (70th %) and 27.5 inches (90%).  Every doctor has different advice for how to feed kids, and I'm sure they are all right, bt Dr. Alvey seems to be right on with what the speech therapist and dieticians told me with Ammon so I thought it would be fun to document a little bit about what Madelyn eats as we go so that when my girls are old and everything has changed again they can laugh at how silly we were :)

Madelyn is still mostly breast feeding for calories.  Dr. Alvey said she will get all of the calories she needs from the milk (the dietician told me 1 Tbs of starch, 1 TBS of fruits or vegetables and 1 TBS of protein per year of age, one to three times daily), but we should feed her baby food to help her get used to it and learn to eat.  We started feeding her near the end of July and she is doing great!  I can't believe how easy it is!!! It was always such a STRUGGLE to get Ammon to eat one or two bites of anything and I think I forgot that that isn't normal :) Dr. Alvey said no meltables until she gets at least one top tooth and one bottom tooth, but she has six (four bottom and two top) teeth right at the surface.  who knows how long it will take them to pop through, but they seem to be coming in all at once.

That's about it.  She sits up like a pro and is starting to try to crawl, but still face plants every time. She is usually happy and ALWAYS wants to be held :)

  1. She is so cute. I laugh at the advice doctors give compared to what our mothers used to say. I can't believe how much it changes. Your kids are all so adorable.
