Who invited Martha?

I have to blog this!!

So last week my sister told me about this fun Disney website - familyfun.com - full of crafts for kids. And Aimee (girl's playgroup) mentioned having the kids do crafts during playgroup, which sounded fun, but intimidating. So the next door neighbor, Lydia, (who Kylie adores) invited Kylie(or her mom did) to join her craft group for a few weeks and we got to host today.

I really wanted to make these towel wraps, but thought they would be too expensive. My sister gave me some GREAT ideas and I was going to make the beaded bookmarks (most of the girls in this group are seven and starting to read more), but yesterday I took a stroll through Wal-mart and YES!!!!! I found these cheapie towels for $1.50 a piece! John went with me to the fabric store later and we picked up the rick rack and stitch whitchery(the most AMAZING stuff in the world of sewing - according to my VERY limited knowledge) but I could not figure out a cheap way to make the towels cuter. Alas, while the girls and I took a quick trip to the bathroom, by sweet hubbie found the most adorable, glittery, bright butterfly material and suggested I have the girls use it to decorate their towels. I know you thought I was going to call myself Martha (Stewart), but really, my husband has out-Martha'd me!!(and not for the first time). Thanks to him, they turned out adorable!

Lucklily two of the girls couldn't come this week - otherwise we would have run out of time. Kaize, Katie, Lydia and Kylie did a great job using the fabric glue to attach their decorations. I did Allie's last and she let me help her place her butterflies. The girls were having a hard time understanding that the middle of the towel is really the side and the ends are the front and back, so I got to create my own fun with Allie's!

Anyway, I had a blast and I am sooo looking forward to doing crafts at playgroup now - or if any of you want to get together and make something with the kids, call me!
