Black Island Farms (and a million pictures)

Yesterday, Allie's preschool class went to Black Island Farms in Syracuse. Allie and Audrey had a blast! We could have stayed for hours longer, but we were limited to two hours. They had so many things to entertain the kids....

First, we boarded two gigantic hay trailers and the tractor pulled us out to the pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins...

We learned about different vegetables grown on the farm and seeding.  We got a little impatient in waiting for the farmer to cut Allie's pumpkin off of the vine and I accidentally ripped the stem off, but at least she got her pumpkin.

Then we were led to another very large field for the kids to play in.  One side was lined with farm animals. They also had, a hay bale maze for the kids to run through, a water pump duck race game, several slides and "playgrounds",  picnic areas, places for the kids to play musical instruments or something (but nobody was in those), a cow train, kids corn maze, cornbox, king of the hay bales, and a pumpkin bouncer. They had a tractor for the kids to look at and some concession stands, but they only open at night.

We may have lost Audrey for a split second

I wish Kylie and John could have come, they would have loved it!

  1. I wonder if the same people to the Cornbelly's Festival down at Thanksgiving Point. There's a lot of the same stuff. It looks like a really fun day out!

  3. Hello! You don't know me obviously but I was blog hopping and came across your blog. What a cute little family you have! I hope you don't mind that I'm leaving you a comment. So this might be a funny question but how did you like dr. B? My daughter is having the Glenn done on nov 9th and I guess I need some reassurance with the whole situation. I think it's starting to hit me now.... I don't know if you can ever actually prepare for your baby to have open heart surgery! But if you have any tips feel free to let me know! Sorry I'm kinda just letting it all out and you don't even know me! Haha. We are new to the whole "heart baby" world and whAt not so it's nice to hear from other "heart moms"

  4. Dr. B is a great surgeon, but hard on himself in an all-too-honest sort of way! I LOVE Dr. P (cardiologist) - he is AMAZING. The Glenn was much easier for Ammon than the Norwood. If he wouldn't have had the crazy weird complications he did we would have been in and out in less than two weeks! I would LOVE to talk to you - send your e-mail to me with any questions... suzispeth@gmail.com
