Ok I have to admit it - I don't love Halloween. I don't like it much at all really. I love finding cute things for my kids to wear, trick-or-treating is great, and the pumpkins - how cute is that? Its the celebrating dark, scary, weird and evil things that ruins it for me. Nevertheless, I try to be a good sport and make fun of the parts I do like! Such as.... suckers! I have Halloween sucker molds and how weird would it be if I didn't use them? So each year we make suckers - yu-um! I forgot to take pictures of our sucker making though.
Also, last week I took the kids to the annual pumpkin walk. Our schedule was already filled up for the week so 9pm on Thursday night was the only time we could go. As always, the pumpkins were super cute!
Our next attempt at Halloween festivities was a mad-last-minute-dash to find costumes for a party. John's cousins' host a Halloween party every year and we have never been able to go until now. I saved the costume getting for the last minute. An hour before the party started I finally found something in my friend's Halloween trunk.... John - a wizard (how true). Suzi - an old lady (easy enough). Kylie - Silvermist. Allie - Daphne (Scooby Doo). Ammon - A Dragon. In hindsight, I don't really like my costume - for several reasons. I wish I would have put some thought into it - I definitely would have picked something else.

Our schedule got kind of crazy so we carved pumpkins 1 hour before the trunk-or-treat... Since there was no time for fancy smancy stuff, we let the girls draw what they wanted and then did our best to carve out their designs :)
Then we took our soup and bread sticks to the neighborhood trunk-or-treat. We are so lucky to live in Utah where if Halloween falls on Sunday, it is celebrated on Saturday night so the kids still get to go trick-or-treating! After dinner it started raining and we... got... DRENCHED.

Kylie's black spray started to wash out of her hair onto her face and clothes so we stopped home for a warm shower and costume change and then went trick-or-treating in Steve and Tara's neighborhood. The husbands were glued to the football game so me and Tara took our turn supervising the kids...
Audrey and Isaac's bishop uses Halloween to teach the primary kids about tithing so they had to count their candy so they could give 10% of it to him (what a great idea!) What are my kids going to do with 100 pieces of candy?????? That doesn't even include the treat sacks from their grandma's and school parties!
The kids spent the rest of the night answering the door and passing out the candy - I think that might have been their favorite part of the whole day!
Suzi - I LOVE your costume! It's hilarious. The dragon is darling too!
