Last Saturday our little family had some time to kill and a desire to be productive. We told the kids that Christmas was coming and talked about other kids who are not so fortunate as them. And then, in attempt to teach them about sacrifice and selflessness, we told them that we needed to donate some of their old toys and make room for whatever they might get for Christmas, otherwise Santa didn't need to come to our house. But we didn't want to donate just any toys, mind you. We wanted them to really have to think and sacrifice and donate things that would be of value to someone else.
I was expecting one or two things in the donation box because well, that is about as selfless as I thought these little girls could be. Except they completely surprised me and we ended up with three large kitchen bags full! It was so different to approach donating with the mindset that we were looking for things that others might really enjoy or benefit from, in stead of simply dejunking or uncluttering the house.
man, I didn't think it had been that long since I had looked at your blog but you've been busy! Can I just say that I LOVE the family pictures! uh-mazing!
