When Kylie turned three she began asking if she could have things, so John and I started making her earn money for them. While I don't think she fully understood the concept at three, she definitely understands it now. She has bought herself a bike, a scooter, some gum and some small toys.
Last week Kylie told me she wanted to earn more money so we decided how much John and I would be able to pay her and made a list of chores she can do well and how much she would earn each time she does them. She keeps track by marking an X by the things she completes. Anyway I asked her what she was going to spend her money on and she said she didn't know yet, she was just going to save it until she saw something she wanted.
Well, we went to Wal-Mart yesterday for a few items and she kept asking me how much random things cost. Finally, she stopped in the middle of the aisle and declared, "I know what I want to spend my money on!" When I asked her what she was going to buy, she rattled off her list... bubble tape, flowers, band-aids (I'm guessing so she can waste them when she plays doctor), a tank top like Brinlee's to go under her shirts, batteries, and deodorant.
OK, cute, but what kind of mom won't even buy her kid batteries? And why does a five year old need deodorant?
