Kylie is so cute :) She came home from school on Thursday and told me she got to see a butterfly at school - WOW! I asked her something about it and she burst out, "April Fools!" Then she decided to call every relative she could think of (except I finally had to make her cut the list short, so those of you she didn't call, it wasn't because she didn't want to!) and play the joke on them. I gave her a few tips about letting them ask a couple of questions to make sure they believe you and then she spent the next half hour on the phone. Each time she called someone new she would add a little to the story, "I got to hold it!" and "it tickled!", or "it was pink" and then "it was pink with purple stripes". As her story progressed and got better and better it occurred to me, "Am I trying to help my six-year-old perfect the art of lying?" Well, I guess I did. Of course, to make myself feel justified I had to follow it up with an explanation that lying is only OK on April Fools Day (I'm so glad she didn't ask why because I can't quite make sense of it myself) and what types of jokes are appropriate... Anyway it was fun to watch her try to trick people. The funniest part is, Tara was the only one that questioned a butterfly being out in the aftermath of winter. Guess we know whose the smartest... ;
