Bad Parenting

Sometimes it is so hard to be a mom.  First you have to control your temper at all times (to the best of your ability and sometimes with a prayer for help) and sometimes you have to pretend to lose your temper a little when you really just want to go and grab the camera because your toddler is so stinkin cute!

Its 10:30 at night.  I usually wait for John to get home from teaching so I can see him for a few minutes.  I was in my room minding my own business and I saw Ammon run past my room a couple of times.  I ignored it because I knew he wasn't tired and didn't want to make him cry.  I went in a few minutes later to take away the truck I could hear him playing with and found him sitting on his bed with about 20 cars/trucks/trains/semi's...  I was nice and took them away and didn't yell.

A while later I heard him in the bathroom.  It sounded like he was brushing his teeth and I don't want to discourage that (we've had some hurdles) so I waited a bit and then went in.  He was standing in the sink getting bandaids out of the medicine cabinet.  He got a sliver the day before and after removing it, Grandpa Spencer bandaged it up.  I was poised to get upset with him so he would know I meant business and go to bed already!  But first, I calmly asked him what he was doing.  He sat down on the counter and looked up at me with those big sorry eyes and said, "but I just needed a bandage."

He was so cute and sincere and I couldn't bring myself to get upset with him.  I picked him up, hugged him and put him back in bed.

Ten minutes later he was peeking in my bedroom.  I finally told him to come in and snuggle up with me.  Then John got home and put him to bed.  He gets away with way too much :)  Yesterday my mom told me that sometimes after we put Ammon to bed, he sneaks into my parents room and whispers, "shhh!" so they won't tell on him.

If only he wasn't so cute.

p.s. This morning I found those Band-Aid's stuck to the wall in his bedroom.
