Back to Crazy Normal

Ammon was finally discharged Monday afternoon.  What a crazy hectic day.  We had a cardiology appt. set for 1:00 pm, but the resident would not start discharge stuff until Ammon pooped.   When he finally did, there were four people there to change his diaper - totally engrossed in his stinkiness - weird.

John dropped the girls off at 8:30 that morning so while Ammon slept and went down stairs for his x-ray, I took the girls to the playroom.  They went craft crazy.  Two sets of silly putty (each), a clothespin butterfly, a princess crown, doctor bags filled with medical supplies and ceramics to take home and color.  I felt bad for doing so many projects, but the volunteers just kept bringing them things to make.

Ammon was finally discharged and we made it to the cardiologist around two-thirty.  I cannot say enough good about Dr. Pulchowski - he is THE MOST AMAZING DOCTOR.  He was fitting us in anyway (which he is always willing to do) and spent extra time talking to me about Ammon's feeds (even though that is the pediatrician's job).  He is super reasonable, flexible and easy going, yet brilliant and on top of things.  Plus, he CARES.  That's nice.  He is always willing to do anything for Ammon and goes out of his way to check on him. AND he didn't even say anything about my two bored stiff daughters who were unable to sit still or be quiet by that point - wow.  Enough gushing.

Nothing new with Ammon's heart.  His resting heart rate has gone down a bit, which Dr. P is super happy about.  That's nice - I was kind of concerned.

Next, we were 1/2 hour late to our helmet appt, but they were super great about it so that was nice.  We picked up John after work and I spent time trying to get a Rx sent to the home health company because the formula the doctors put Ammon on is $45 a can  (for a small 14 oz can).  Nuts.  Luckily, our insurance will cover it.  BUT we still have $40 worth of the Enfaport left over, $10 worth of Goodstart, two 14 oz cans of Similac (samples) and two and a half 14 oz cans of Progestamil.  Does anyone need any specialty formula?  It can all be mixed with breastmilk.... its free.... please?

When we FINALLY got home I was EXHAUSTED (the pull out hospital bed will do that to you).  Our sweet Relief Society brought us ANOTHER meal.  It was one of those meals that was timed perfectly and VERY-VERY appreciated.

After dinner I accidentally crashed on the couch so John and the girls straightened the house and then he took all of the kids on a nice, long walk - I was completely oblivious to the whole thing.  I love him. Its a good thing they let me sleep too because Allie woke up at 12am throwing up so I was awake forever taking care of that mess and getting her settled.  After three episodes she was done and slept peacefully for the rest of the night.  The next day she was fine.

Today Kylie decided we should have some friends come over.  My wonderful friend Jen brought over her cutest kids, and Ryland and Brinlee (that I used to baby-sit) came too.  They spent the morning swimming.  This afternoon the house has been full of neighborhood kids. On days like this its hard to imagine that the girls are always complaining of not having anyone to play with.  I really need to help them make more of an effort in that area.  It feels good to have a "normal" friend-filled day.  I miss these days when they are few and far between! Its actually not that bad to have a bit of a messy house when you know your kids are happy, safe, and in good company.

What is with my long-windedness lately?

  2. WTH?? I went upstairs sunday and didn't see Ammon on the board so I asked the clerk (who was busy eating cake and seemed slightly annoyed to be bothered) and he said he had been discharged. Obviously he was WRONG! Well anywho....glad you are home and all is well.
