A few months ago my sister-in-law Tara made a REALLY CUTE set of picture blocks for my mom (she is VERY talented). Last week I tried my best to make one and I had so much fun doing it! I'm not big into scrapbooking (or creating ANYTHING really), BUT I do love to do a "scrap-book-y" project now and then :) I learned a good lesson after I finished this one. For some reason as I was admiring my accomplishment (even if it wasn't that great!) I thought about Christ - how Heavenly Father directed (and taught) him how to create every single thing in this world and how after it was done they looked it over and "saw that it was good". Plants, animals the whole thing- I wonder if I reverence his work and appreciate it for what it is - made by the hand of a God. He made all of these really cool animals and gave them different abilities and made the whole thing work together - ANYWAY....
Today I read this quote about prayer and liked how it acknowledged His creations - and how WE were also created by them and how dependent we are on our creators...
" President Wilford Woodruff began the dedicatory prayer of the Salt Lake Temple with these words:" 'Our Father in heaven, thou who hast created the heavens and the earth, and all things that are therein; thou most glorious One, . . . we, thy children, come this day before thee, and in this house which we have built to thy most holy name, humbly plead the atoning blood of thine Only Begotten Son, that our sins may be remembered no more against us forever, but that our prayers may ascend unto thee and have free access to thy throne, that we may be heard in thy holy habitation.'
How would it be to offer up something you created and ask Him to accept it a His house?
His work sure makes mine look silly :)
(These pics are of John's family and their families)
What a darling idea!
ReplyDeleteSuzi,
ReplyDeleteHow would you like to meet at the trail by your house with our kids(and their bikes/stroller) and go for a walk some morning?
