The longest, most boring post EVER

We spent this past weekend camping at Hyrum City Park in Blacksmith Fork Canyon.  Because Ammon is still on oxygen at night, plus the pulse ox and the feeding pump we had to go somewhere where we had power to plug him in at night.  It was great.   There is a paved drive in the shape of a circle around the campground for the kids to ride their bikes on, a river to wade in and a grassy park with swings and slides and a make-you-want-to-throw-up spinning thing right across the bridge.  We spent Friday night on our own and had a heck of a time getting there.  I think we went back and forth from my brothers house (picking stuff up) to our house a couple of times and then got more than half way to the freeway and realized that although we had packed four oxygen tanks, we had forgotten the regulator that lets the oxygen out of the tank. Back home again.

When we finally reached the freeway on ramp Ammon decided to stink it up for us. BIG TIME. John pulled over and I reached back to get him out of his car seat so I could change him in the front seat.  Kylie decided to help and reached under his bum to lift and came out with a handful of poop.  Oh dear. I wish I would have thought to take a picture of his covered-in-poop car seat.  Everyone except Allie ended up with poop somewhere on their person and it stunk ALL THE WAY to the campground.

We spent Friday night by ourselves.  It was lovely and peaceful and fun! On Saturday morning John tried out his new fly rod (his severance from his last job) while the girls ran around with willow sticks catching fish (leaves).  They outdid their father, but he didn't care - you know, since he doesn't eat fish and all (or leaves). I sat on the grass with Ammon and read (for at least two minutes anyway).

On the drive to Blacksmith Fork Canyon, the girls started asking me a bunch of questions about Adam and Eve.  I don't know where it came from, but Allie was asking just as many questions as her sister so I went with it. On Saturday night we read a scripture about how Adam and Eve needed to learn the difference between good and bad and since they broke the rules Heavenly Father had to kick them out of the Garden of Eden.  Allie thought for a few minutes and then asked, "Mom, do you think Heavenly Father really KICKED them?"

That night I got to learn the difference between good and bad.  I am pretty sure someone put our tent on top of the frigid river because I was COLD.  Really, really COLD. I can't sleep when I am cold.  And Ammon was between me and John and decided to fill his diaper at 3 am. Eeeew. Then John threw my blanket on Kylie because she got cold too. Ugh.  And you better bet I wasn't getting up to trek to the bathroom in that cold. Sunday morning (after hours of laying in my sleeping bag suffering, the sun finally peeked through the trees and filled our tent with a most brilliant yummy warmth!  There was no getting me out of bed after that.  John started quoting Monte Python (why did I make him watch that?) and Steve (who was right outside our tent making breakfast) started banging on the dutch oven skillet and yelling, "Bring out your dead!" to which I dutifully replied, "I don't want to get in the cart!  I'm not dead yet!" Why is Monte Python so much funnier when you quote it then when you actually watch it?

Sunday was fun.  The cousins ran back and forth between the park, the river and our campsite. It was tiring.  Between Tara's lack of sleep and John's silliness the Hyrum State Park was officially renamed the "blankety-blank" park.  We spent a lot of time in the "blankety-blank" park.  Its also the place where the boys went fishing.  John finally ended up catching a few - well, like 10 (unless he was embellishing his story).

Grandma and Grandpa Speth and Grandma and Grandpa Spencer all came to spend time with us. G&G Spencer were supposed to be camping with us, but instead spent their nights in a hotel in Logan. (I can't wait until I'm old enough to justify that :)
We spent a ton of time in the river.  Well, actually mostly just John, the kids and Tara.  It was freeeeeezing.  No one else dared to get in. Before the kids knew how cold the water was Isaac wanted to go swimming super bad and kept asking everyone to take him.  Then he threw water at John.  Don't ever throw water at John.  John scooped him up, ran to the icy cold river and dipped him in.  He didn't ask anyone else to take him swimming for awhile.  Allie thought that was brilliant and tried to throw water on her dad so he would take her swimming too!  Instead she got a half a bottle of water down the front of her.  She was not pleased. Did anyone notice that Allie likes to jump in front of the camera when I am taking pictures?  This week we are MISSING the annual Speth Family Island Park Camping Trip.  We are super sad about that. I guess there's always next year...

OK I think that's all.
