The deadline finally came for our Summer goals.. We had a little meeting and talked about our achievements, and while we all could have improved some, overall we did really well! The girls earned their swimming lessons by completing four weeks of daily task completions, plus two extra weeks which went toward a fun pool outing with their dad all to themselves (because Ammon and Madelyn were sick). Allie reached one of her goals - to fall into a backbend all by herself and was about 90% for her other goal - being flat in all three of her splits. Kylie accomplished about 80% of her goal to do a back walkover unassisted and in the meantime completed two major hurdles: falling back into a backbend without fear and kicking over from a standing backbend. She almost learned to stand up from a back bend, but is about half and half for standing up without falling. This was a very difficult skill and I am so proud of her for her hard work!
John has been excused from this go-round because he is already packed to his limit with things to do. Between trying to fill positions at work and doing three people's jobs, teaching at the college at night, taking us on camping trips, and setting up for Woodbadge (again) his hours are limited. I achieved one of my goals: finishing last year's blog book! Ugh it was down to the wire and I figure I've got at least 10-12 hours into it. Between Ammon and Madelyn and helping the girls with their goals my time has been very limited, but I did it!!! My other goal didn't fare as well. I was supposed to lose 10 pounds of baby weight this Summer.... I did lose some, but I'm not sure how much because the battery in our scale is dead, but I estimate 6-8. Its something, right?
So next week we set new goals and we are changing the reward system a bit so hopefully we will not lose steam toward the end as we did this time. Wish us luck!!!
Post note: we have been trying to help Kylie with fasting. Last month we fasted for her - that it wouldn't be so hard and that she would be able to see the value in it. It went really well! This month she did fabulously! I also noticed that it seems a little easier when we fast as a family and decide together what we are going to fast for.
One last observation. I have noticed lately how honest my daughters are. I know that is a really hard thing sometimes for little kids, but I love that I have never had to question anything my daughters say because they are both terribly honest. What a blessing :)
