Tuesday night started out to be a lot of fun - they extubated Ammon without any problems and when we got the report right before we went to bed, his nurse was really excited and expected they would move him out of the ICU by Friday!...Then (of course)he crashed. Crashed is such a harsh word - really, he just became acidotic and they re-intubated and put him back on the meds they had weened him off of. The ventilator isn't doing anything for him other than keeping him comfortable - so its no longer a breathing issue (yay!)
Unfortunately they don't really know what the issue is. They have a few guesses so they are running a bunch of tests (on pretty much anything they can think of) and we won't have the results back for a few days. They don't think its anything too major, but they have to pin point the problem before they can fix it. Until then, he is stable, drugged, and sleeping peacefully...
