Update- January 7th

I know sometimes the details of Ammon's struggles can be a lot, but I want to record them so when I make our blog into a family history book next year I will have everything. Last night John helped me think of a few things I need to update...

First, Ammon has a blood clot in his heart caused by the RA line. He is receiving Lovenox to keep it from accumulating more clots, but they don't have any other plans to treat it so far. His heart is doing well.

They have extubated him twice, but it hasn't lasted. He crashed the first time and lasted 2 1/2 hours the second time. Today they are doing four 2 hour spontaneous trials and he has done great on the first two (yay!!)

Feeds are going well (FINALLY). He is getting protogen (no fat formula) at a rate of 17 ml/hr and they are working on increasing the amount of calories he is getting mixed in with the formula to build strength for breathing success. The only lines he has left IN him is an PIV (periphal IV) , PIC, and the ventilator.

I have actually been able to go spend time with him this week! Thanks to mom and Monica (SIL) for watching the girls so I could spend some time with my son - you have no idea how wonderful you are!!!! I know many of you have offered to help, but the girls have been passed around a lot and I want them to be happy and comfortable when I leave them so they don't feel neglected. Balancing my time between the girls and Ammon has been a challenge, and although its not much, I appreciate every second I get to spend with my beautiful little baby :) I can't wait to get him home so I can be with all three of our kids at once- that will be heavenly :)
