Flying Through

Wow - Ammon's recovery is sooo very much different than last time :) When we got to the hospital today they had just extubated him, removed the catheter and Central IV and taken him off of the pacemaker. The NP said he was flying through this and looks great :) He is still obviously uncomfortable. During rounds they described as feisty - and his super sweet nurse piped in and said that was an understatement. Sounds about right :) Within the first hour of our visit they gave him morphine, versed and lortab and he was still crying. It was really sad. He still has the RA line in his heart so he can't be held and I have a cold so I had to sit at the doors with a mask and just watch them try to console him - that was hard. They finally gave him some ativan and he drifted off. Even then he was squirming here and there.

Despite that, he is progressing quite well and shouldn't be in the ICU much longer.
