So his birthday week went something like this: He woke up on his birthday and we did too (REALLY early). I make him some quick and easy cinnamon rolls from a recipe I saw on pinterest that uses crescent roll dough - they were much tastier than I expected! and the girls gave John some cards they made for him. He had to teach that night so we met him at McDonalds for a super quick lunch in between job #1 and job #2 where the kids gave him his birthday present:
| The T-shirt details were mostly Kylie's ideas - can you see how excited she was for John to see it? |
| John thought it was funny too :) |
It took a while for me to find a company to make the shirt and Kylie had some last minute ideas for the picture so we did it SUPER FAST (which means we made some mistakes), but it turned out pretty cute :) The kids have a bit of an inside joke with their dad about Diet Coke and hot dogs. Everytime they say something open ended like, "guess what?!" John answers with either, "You bought me a Diet Coke!" or "You want a hot dog!" You would be amazed at how many uses these two phrases can have.
On Thursday, I felt bad for the lame birthday week and bought John a giant cinnamon roll from Great Harvest - mmmm!
Ammon and Madelyn came down with colds during the week so we lost our "birthday-date" babysitter and came up with a last minute alternative - camping! We took the trailer out to Antelope Island, ate stew, played games, slept, listened to the first session of General Conference, walked out and let the girls wade in the water, and played in the sand. Then we went home to listen to the second session.
John took most of the photos while on the island so I'll post more when he e-mails them to me...
Saturday night John went to Hyrum to attend the Priesthood session with his family and his mom made more cinnamon rolls :)
On Sunday I woke up super early, made cinnamon rolls from scratch (mostly because I had promised Kylie I would), two cakes and we watched General conference. We ended the festivities with a Sunday night party with family:)
Happy Birthday John!
