On being productive...

There are always things to do around here, and no time to do them. I am pretty determined not to waste time, so I get so frustrated when I don't get my daily chores done.  Right now my excuse is the kids - they need a lot of attention.  I love spending time with them, but at the end of the day when I look around the house and see absolutely no evidence of all the work I did, I feel defeated.

On the other hand, my kids are fun.  This morning I was struggling to keep Madelyn and Ammon occupied so I could clean up the kitchen (because oddly enough, cleanliness is strongly attached to my emotional/mental stability) and Madelyn kept crawling in the dishwasher when I reached up to the sink for more dishes (she's fast... REALLY fast) and then Ammon caught on and decided it looked fun and I didn't want him to break the door on the dishwasher (because he thinks the spinny thing under the top rack is a helicopter propeller) so I shut it and sat down in frustration.  the next thing I knew I had them both climbing all over me.

First Ammon laid in my lap.  He is full into the cutest 'learning to talk' phase wherein he completes every sentence by placing the noun or subject at the end..." Mom! Tickle me, ears!" or on the way to school, "Look mom, other one, bus!" (Mom, there's another bus!)

Then Madelyn decided to jump on Ammon (which he thinks is hilarious and says, "Mom, ad-lyn getting me!" and after 30 seconds of this I forgot that the kitchen was dirty (I was sitting on the floor and couldn't see it) and played with the kids.

Maybe that's the key - if I just stay at their level I won't see half of the mess around the house :)

...lately Ammon has been doing the cutest thing... he kneels down by Madelyn, gives her a big hug and says, "ad-lyn, I LOVE you!"

I just wish someone would write me a note - an official excuse to get me out of feeling guilty for all of the things I am not accomplishing that I want to be accomplishing and tell me again that sitting on the floor letting Ammon and Madelyn crawl all over me is not misusing my time.

This is where Madelyn likes to be 90 percent of the day.
