As far as we know he is doing well :) We left him with the anesthesiologist at 8:30am, they had his lines placed and made the incision just before 10am. At 11:52 they were still trying to get through the scar tissue. He was on bypass at 12:50.
That is all I know :) We met with Dr. Burch early this morning. He was REALLY optimistic (he made it sound like a "quick n' easy" kind of thing) They decided not to touch the stent that they were going to graft and keep it simple. They are going to cut the inferior vena cava, sew a piece of tubing on to the end of it to make it longer and connect it into the RPA a little farther down from where they connected the superior vena cava last time. Sounds easy, no? Dr Grey (cath doctor) thinks he can keep blow up Ammon's "non expandable" stent to almost adult size (as he grows, of course). I hope they're right :)
Yesterday I had a funny flashback (why I think its funny, I don't know) to Ammon's Glenn. When he started to tank the team kept meeting and trying to come up with options and one of their first plans was to take him to the cath lab and try to do something or other and if they popped a suture they would just open him up and stick a finger in the whole until they could take care of it. Doesn't that just sound ridiculous? I don't know why, but the thought cracks me up :) Not that it was their fault - they really had very few options at the time, but really, like 10 of Primary's greatest heart clinicians and "stick their finger in it" was the best they could do? I'm just sayin'.... makes my testimony grow a little :)
So far this morning John has taken me to two VERY yummy restaurants (Market Street Grill and Moochies) and to do a little window shopping. It helps time pass :) I wish they were done already :( In the meantime, here's Ammon's rendition of "Jesus wants me for a sun-beep!"
and "Shoo fly, don't bother me!"
