Our Christmas festivities start tonight and I'm guessing I won't get to the blog for a few days so I wanted to update so I don't forget to record Ammon's progress. When I was in the hospital I got our blog book finished through most of November, but I've been a crazy poster this month and have a ton of work to do to finish it up! Maybe by my birthday in January...
Ammon is doing pretty good. He is moving a little slower than I thought he would, but I guess there is no rush. A couple of days ago he was throwing up blood. It turned out to be a stress ulcer in his stomach so they had to take care of that before they could continue his feeds. Right now the milk is going straight to his intestines, but they think the tube passing through his stomach caused the ulcer to rupture. They started feeding him again last night. The poor baby is skin and bones. They did that on purpose - I think they said it was to help monitor the edema or something. I can't wait until they start to fatten him up - its hard to see him like that. Nothing else is really happening. They are still messing with pain meds and he has been in some pain, and they are weening the ventilator (in slow motion, I think). More next week...
