Its so weird to know the day you are going to have a baby - no guessing or waiting for something to happen - you just go to the doctor, they poke you with all kinds of sharp needles (I HATE IVs), and they make your body kick it out. Weird.
So when the baby is born on Wednesday, they will immediately pass it to the NICU room attached and start putting in his lines so they can get the prostaglandins infusing. Then, if he's OK, we will get to see him for a few minutes before he's off to Primary Children's for a full workup. They will check his organs and decide if he qualifies for heart surgery, and then, if he does, they will schedule the surgery.
I hate not having any say in who the surgeon will be. Not that it matters, but in a perfect world, I would pick someone who cares whether or not the baby survives, who can listen to any special guidance or help the Holy Ghost could offer, and who believes that God can make their work better than it normally would be. There are only two surgeons at Primary's that do this surgery and we don't even get to meet them.
My family has decided to fast this week. We need things to go well with his birth, him to qualify for the surgery and to do well during the surgery so he can come home with us in a month or so! (How is that for a list of demands?) They are fasting Monday through Tuesday, but if anyone else would like to join in, we could use the prayers :) I know fasting works and that Heavenly Father listens to us when we are humble and listen to Him!
So here's a big sigh as we look forward to this super important week - Just a couple more hurdles to go!!!!
Oh Suzi!! My heart and prayers will join you this week as you await the delivery, answers and hopeful good news! I'm so glad you've been able to be home for a while before this next chapter starts. I think of you often and know you're in good hands (much better medical hands than I've seen out here AND that you have family support so close). I add my faith that the Lord will surely bless you and your family this week!!
ReplyDeleteMy semi-contractions have started over the last two days, so maybe we'll join the party on Wednesday! Either way, I'll be thinking of you and sending happy thoughts and prayers your way!!! Love and hugs!
